How does it work?
In simple terms, the Privacy Smart Film has tiny particles inside it that move when electricity is turned on. When the particles are scattered, the glass looks cloudy, and when they line up, the glass turns clear.
Scientifically speaking, however,
Privacy smart film is a new type of electronic light control product. The electronically controlled smart film is a liquid crystal polymer hybrid material injected in the middle of 2 transparent conductive films. In the absence of an electric field, the liquid crystal molecules become scattered, preventing light from passing through directly, resulting in the electronically controlled smart film to go into an opaque state.
When an alternating current is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are arranged in an orderly manner, allowing light to pass through naturally, at which point the electronically controlled film changes from an opaque state to a transparent state.
The electric field enables a rapid transition from the “on” state to the “off” state and from the “off” state to the “on” state. Smart film is usually applied to the surface of the glass or laminated between the glass layers, enabling the otherwise transparent glass to become dynamic, switchable privacy glass.
